What exactly are Dynamic Properties?

HELIO Page Types and HELIO Element Types come with properties that allow you to control their visual representation and their behavior. For example you can manipulate the Title property of a page.

Some properties have an additional secret superpower: they are dynamic, meaning you can change their types.

This may sound complicated, so let's take a look at a concrete example to illustrate how it works.

A Real-Life Example: Switching From Static to Dynamic Page Title

The Title of this Collection Page (Page Type) is currently using the type Localizable Text (Dynamic Property Type). It enables you to input text that can be translated at a later time.

Switching Types

  1. Use the Type Chooser to select from the available types for the Title property.
  2. In the preview, you can see the actual rendered result for the selected type.

Configuring a Type

  1. Once you switch the type to Data Variable (Dynamic Property Type), you can link its value to a variable. In this case, we choose the variable RecipeCount.
  2. In the preview, you can now see result of this type change: Now the number of overall recipes will be displayed.
